i did this for my fog lights. works great

(the two circles are the outlets)

No Need for Relay For This Apolication

I agree with scope103.

You gotta understand your application before adding parts and throwing dollars at anything. Typically, those outlets are for personal electronics (You don't need a relay for your iPad, do you?), rated for NO MORE than 110 OR 120WATTS (Look at factory-installed ones. Does the lighter outlet require a relay?).

Just know and be sure of the capacity of your switch, wire gauge & length & outlet, pick right fuse for that. Then label your outlet for corresponding wattage rating.
IF you want to run lights that draw more than that, you should not plug it into these outlets; you power it from relays directly powered by battery and near the battery.

I don't see the point of switching or adding a relay to any power plugs, mine are hot all the time.
