Headlight/lightbulb upgrade or conversion

I have a 1990 toyota pickup. I am tires of the head lights, i have cleaned them, washed them, they look crystal clear! But the lights are not bright nor see far enough. I have adjusted the height and angle at which the beams shine and it helped a little but not much.

I know several cheap headlights will use a cheap plastic but won't direct the beam forward. Anyone have a good review on a properly built and good quality product for an upgrade. Or will an HID conversion do the job?

And if neither, what about a good quality light bulb?

Stock headlight wiring is known to be marginal on these trucks.
First thing to do is upgrade your headlight harness with one of the battery direct, relay actuated kits available on Ebay or elsewhere.
I got more light from even my stock bulbs after a harness upgrade.
Several different threads here about this, and several different ways to go with alternate bulbs after doing the harness upgrade.

Might you have any links to these write ups?I tried searching and not sure where to start. I will do that harness asap. Are they available on amazon as well? I will def upgrade the harness first and foremost and go from there.

Also, might you have a part number?

The H4 conversion is a great upgrade. Good pattern and you can experiment with different kinds of bulbs.

Ok let me start by saying I know what u mean I have a 91 and I have same problem lol I haven't done mine yet but I have had a lot of trucks and HIDs are the way to go just watch what brand and color and how bright the color on the bulb is. Ive had 8k 10k and 30k blue and green and I loooved my green but I would go 10k or 12k because my right one faded to white after so long. But I did run them all the time lol. The blue look really clean though that's why I like them and I love 30k blue they look the best. U can go on eBay and look up 91 Toyota pickup hids and it will pull up a combo kit which is what I'm doing for both lights and his its like
104.99 which is a good deal.

I understand where you are coming from but the HID light is projected differently than a standard light bulb. The casing is not designed to project it properly. I would have to get a massive watt bulb to do anything more and it just blinds others.

What is the difference in the h4 and standard?

Standard is one piece sealed beam and H4 is bulb and housing 2 piece combo. gives the option to use several different wattage bulbs.
The Hella Euro spec H4 housings that fit these trucks are well thought of.

Think that this is the correct 5x7 inch rectangular housing.
But don't take my word. Do your own research.
Note that it is Euro spec and not 'street legal' in USA.
Looks like price is for 1 and you need two.
Not cheap by any means. Might use the Hella# and shop for price on Amazon and elsewhere. Let us know.

The h4 is just a type of bulb they have several different styles and yes the his does project different it shines everywhere that's why I love it lol and yes it will blind some others mainly in cars but every hid does unless u look for the bi-xeon kit which is a high and low beam hid

You don't need a harness for the H4 -- the H4 bulb pin connection is identical to a standard sealed beam headlight. That's the beauty of the H4 conversion -- you just change the bulbs when they blow, not the whole sealed unit. And, like I said, you can experiment with different kinds of bulbs/colour temps., etc. It's not a conversion "kit"; it's just a glass sealed beam headlight with a replaceable bulb in the back.
