read the other thread about fuel pump. they are fed through the same system. Mine the stock running board mount had worn though the wiring harness right where it goes throuth the floor under your seat.

what is this?

Speakin of wiring, can anyone tell me what this empty plug goes to? it tees off the thick black wire from the starter, goes to this then the cold start injector then the cooling valve under the efi? no idea what it goes to and do i need it?

thanks for the post. I found out I was not getting power to my open relay so I changed efi relay behind driver's side kick panel. Changed open relay also behind glove box. Now I have power to fuel pump harnest, but as soon as I hook fuel pump harnest to fuel pump I blow the 15amp efi fuse. Sounds like the fuel pump is my problem. Any suggestions would be great. This all started when I went over railroad crossing. And the truck died from blowing efi fuse. 1986 4x4 22re
Thanks again, Rusted Rooster

Worked on truck for two hours tonight. Pulled fuel pump and bench tested, it runs and sounds fine. Had 15amp fuse on positive wire it never blew with bench test. So it's not the fuel pump? I am getting power to fuel pump harnest with jumper wire and key on but if I unhook the jumper wire, there is no power to fuel pump harnest. Like I said before efi 15amp fuse blows when I hook up fuel pump harnest to fuel pump. Any help would be great! Not sure where to go next?

Maybe there's a bare wire touching in some dark unreachable corner or conduit somewhere that you can't see. That's the only thing that seems to make any sense to me... But you said you followed all the wires so... Man you've gotta be frustrated! I'd be slinging wrenches across the yard and randomly giving every wire a good tug lol

Maybe try a 20amp fuse and see if it still blows.

Well, got her started...not totaly sure what I did ? will start with what I did last 2 days
#1 removed fuel pump, bench tested-good.
#2 replaced + and - wire prongs on fuel pump bracket (they broke off to touch, rusted)
#3 replaced fuel pump
#4 pulled,checked,wiggled,inspectded,any harness,rechecked 02 censor.
#5 added extra ground wire from motor to truck body(not sure why)
#6 unhooked air flow meter, hooked back up,
#7 replaced 15amp efi fuse, turned key and started up, runs fine, starts fine, not blowing efi fuse yet, have to lower bed back down, bolt it down, and take her for a test drive,
thanks for all who posted! Rossted Rooster.

That's great man. But keep those extra fuses in the glove box just incase. I know you've gotta have spares, I had about 10 15's left after I finally got mine fixed lol. Hopefully it wasn't the wire wiggling that fixed it or that might become a recurring problem until it's nailed down.

I know it's been a while since you last posted about blown EFI fuse. I am going through the same thing here. After I changed the fuel pump it continues to blow the 15 Efi fuse? Have you had that problem since.
Did you change the opening relay under the kick panel? Your help would be greatly appreciated, you know how frustrated it can be. Thanks

Question Same issues on 1993 pick up

So I have a 1993 pick up 2wd with the 22re and I've had the same issues with blowing the 15 amo Efi fuse so I couldn't pin point the issue I did have a molten rear o2 sensor wire wich only affected my mil light but now I've blown the dude about 3 times and this morning literally like 10 mins ago I blew I fuse on freeway I already on knew that it was my fuel pump fuse but this time it was one of the square 30 amo fuse the one with a clear top and I don't have a extra one for that so I need to figure out what caused that also speaking on my truck I also had alot of sputtering bugging sound when I accelerate like maybe no fuel or spark and it's only for about 3 secs then it runs great then again when I let off throttle and back on again and it's only a few times or random times it's does that.. well hopefully someone can help me also once I figure it out my self I'll can help someone out with this
