The headlight circuit wiring between a Tacoma that has Daytime Running Lights and one that does not is not even close to being similiar. If your truck has a factory DRL system, you can't disconnect it. To start with the coil side of the main headlight relay goes to ground through the Main Daytime Running Light Relay.
If you pull the 7.5 a DRL fuse you disable the coil side of Day Time Running Light Relay #4, but your headlights won't work at all, because the contact side of this relay allows current from the high and low beam headlights to flow to ground.

Having said that I have to ask the question :- Why would you want to disable the DRL system?
It's a safety system like airbags and seatbelts...would you want to disable those?

Almost all of the studies done around the world indicate that DRL's reduce the number of multiple vehicle daytime crashes.

Some army bases require drl's to be disabled on vehicles on base, not sure why. On my 02 corolla I had to pull a wire from the drl relay and isolate it which disabled them. Do a search on Google for Toyota daytime running light disable there is TSB for dealers out there.

Misquoted when I said army bases should've said military bases. That's what the TSB from Toyota says anyway.
