battery draining

I just installed a new radio head unit and now my battery gets drained while the truck is parked. I rechecked all the connections and didn't have this problem before I installed the radio. Also the truck doesn't "click" like a dead battery. I turn the key and absolutely nothing i turn it a couple times and it'll start or I play with the battery cables and it'll start.

Well I've been playing with it and if I turn the radio off before the truck it won't drain so I guess that is just what I am going to have to do

Connections are the very first things you should check when you have an electrical problem. Get a battery terminal / connector cleaner. for about $6.

It's not draining your battery, it just keeps power from getting where it should go, AND keeps your alternator from charging the battery while running.

If you had your negative battery terminal disconnected like you should when doing electrical work.

The battery post might be corroded or the terminal is .

Then when you reinstalled the connection was not as good as it should be .

A good cleaning might cure your problem.
