Anyone replace battery terminals

After installing Roger B's HL harness, the terminal on POS cable partially cracked. It's on, but not tight. I don't really need 'bling', but I wouldn't mind extra terminals to hang my accessories on. Also, a cover would be good. I see terminals everywhere, just not sure what I should be looking for. Also, is it easier to cut the cable or pry the old terminal off?

I can't tell you how to install them but I recently got some Monster battery terminals. They seem to meet all the things you're talking about. I'll see if I can get a pic for you.

BTW, how do you like the harness and was it a pretty easy install? I'm still debating on HID's.

I did the harness and upgraded the headlights. The harness was very simple to install.
The hardest part about the headlights is getting the grill out of the way on a 94 truck.
I love the light I can see forever. I know I went over board with the bulbs but I hate driving a night. I want to light up the world.

This was the BEST mod I have done so far to my truck!!! Can't say enough about it.

Usually the old cable ends are lead, cast onto the end of the cable. You can usually split them off with a cold chisel and hammer. Keep the chisel blade in line with the cable end to avoid damaging the conductor. Or you could just replace the cable. When I installed my dual batteries, I cut the old battery terminal off near the fuse box and then spliced that end to a heavier gauge cable to feed power to the box.

Edwin,

The harness was a pretty straight forward install. The hardest part is figuring out where to put the relays and 'black box'. I haven't mounted mine anywhere yet. They are just stuffed behind the fuse box. I will probably just zip tie them to something. Also, I got lazy and didn't replace the fusable links with normal fuses. I will, but I'm going to fix the terminal first. I found some Hella H4 90/130 that I'm going to try out for only $8 at Offroad Warehouse. Before the harness, I had replaced my sealed HL for the Hella Vision Plus and have been happy with them. The harness seemed to make a difference, but that could be just wishfull thinking on my part. I got his harness because I was upgrading the ones in my Previa and figured I would get one for the truck while I was at it.

Roger,

Thanks. I don't think I'll have time to replace the cable. It is too far down the line on my todo list to get ready for DV....Front brakes....repack frt wheel bearings...change gear/tranny oil. I use the DV trip to get my maintenance done. 3wks can't wait!

I still have the relays and box stuffed behind my fuse box as well. As long as you keep them upright and out of the way, they should be fine. I just used a small bolt to hold the two relay tabs back to back.

On my VW, I took the time to mount the relays on the inner fender wall:

Along with the fog and driving light relays, tach generator, EGT signal conditioner ad fuse block. Since it a diesel, there is almost nothing on the engine or in the engine compartment. No smog plumbing, sensors, computers, etc. so plenty of space to put stuff.

I think the terminals were $15 each. I don't know what guage the wires are but I think the guy told me 8 guage. Can't tell you about whether they will work w/ stock cables.

Thanks Bob. You know better than most how ignorant I am when it comes to this stuff. As long as it works, I'm pretty much OK.

Wow, maybe my guy gave me a good deal. I think I asked Fink what he paid for his terminals and they were about $15 each as well. Fink, though, did not have the protectors on his so maybe this increases the cost.

End of the day, I got a great deal b/c I spent some decent cash with the shop.

I decided to search for you and the only Monster battery terminals I could find were $30 each. However, I found these (look bling) but are pretty cheap. http://www.digitallyunique.com/viewp...ductId=3178474

I just checked my invoice and it says "Monster Battery Connection Top Mount (+) for $17.99. The AE part number is SLMBC3POS. Maybe this will help you.

Thanks..

I just happend to be passing store called Tweeter its a home/auto AV store that was closing and they had 40% off. I ended up getting the Monster cables terminal there. It looks similar to yours except it only has 1 terminal on top and 2 that go in from the back. It works and looks ok so I'm happy.

I got them for $14, so I'm thinking they gave them to you for close to cost.
