Not the best winches...
Not made by MM - they're made in China (like a lot of off brand winches these days) They're the same as the REP electric cheapies too. Note the low power rating in the specs and the crappy plastic push botton remote and the plastic slide lever for in/out - I Personally would steer clear of the ones with that remote and in/out switch, under any name, they are weak winches.

Look instead for any of these (various brands too) examples:

8,000 lb is more than adequate. More is always better (within reason - no need for a 12k!) as long as cost is similar.

There was a thread around here somewhere that said the mm winches had the same part number as the harbor freight ones.

after loosing my hair all day and a lot of phone calls, i've finally been schooled on winches.....mile maker and harbor freight is a waist of time, they are plastic and tend to melt......warn is the best but cost $$$$$$$$$$ well warn makes warn tabor winches, old school design at half the costs....ebay is the place to go and find them for about $500.....there are others with but electrical guts are not so good and gearing......so WARN TABOR it is.....thanks for the help guys

Lee, he's just got a double prefix in the URL. Try this:

hey guys!

thanks for the new link, took a look and that is a sweet deal. just have to get the cash together then have it shipped to a us addy for p/u. brokerage fees would kill the savings over buying and shipping here.

You can get a Warn M8000 w/ hawse fairlead for $599 shipped. That's what I'm going to do. Here's a link I found:

mile marker's hydrualic winches are good quality(used by the US army) but probably slower than hell on a toyota factory PS pump. then again, for the average guy, getting pulled out slow is better than not at all.

since they are hydro, they only work when the engine is running. so if your engine stalls in a mudhole, or you are at a steep angle where your engine wont pump oil.....you are done.

i dont know if a stock toy pump will move enough fluid for a hydro winch either

Well, if you gotta use the electric winch to pull without the engine, you aren't getting very far either.
