Weird engine sound???
I tried searching for a little bit but gave up:
Here's my issue. I have a 91 4Runner with a 3.0L V6. When I drive and get up to about 2500-4000rpms, it makes a noise that almost resembles a knock. It's kinda of a clicking noise like the start of a knock. I have driven about 5,000 miles and it has not worsened. It has made this since I purchased the vehicle. Timing belt and water pump were replaced about 8,000 miles ago. I had a friend of mine who is a mechanic listen to it and he said he has no clue what it could be. No check engine lights. It does not do it during idle. Any ideas as to what this might be?
Thanks

While searching I found some similar things but not in the RPM range like I'm describing.
Also to clarify it almost sounds like it is coming from the front top on the passengers side. It's hard to decipher exactly where though.

Wow, thats hard to figure out. Not sure exactly but have you looked around the engine compartment and made sure there's nothing out of the ordinary? Maybe Change the oil. Thats all I can think of.

yeah, I changed the oil about 1000 miles ago. Put mobil one 5w30 in. Still same thing. Nothing out of the ordinary in the engine compartment either.
I thought that if it were a knock it would do it in the low rpm range as well. Trying hard to figure this out, cus I'm taking my rig on a long road trip.
