Stupid truck accessories

Shelf-It Overhead Shelf. Well this has got to rate pretty high up on the list. Can you even see out the window with this thing on? I think my roof is to low as it is.

What's the dumbest (non-gag) thing you've seen for your toyota?

Yuck. Whoever thought of that must be awfully short. That would drive me crazy. No pun intended.

how could you hit your head on that? that thing is barely over the steering wheel. but yeah, i dont think its very practical

i think something that looks funny and useless are those lighted louver things that go on the *front* of the windshield.

People who install the Shelf-It report about a 1" - 2" lowered top margin to their field of vision.

If that's not a problem, it's a very useful way to mount auxiliary gadgets...

EDIT: The only pics of a Shelf-It in a Tacoma I've ever found are over at CustomTacos:

http://www.customtacos.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40933

They give a good idea of fitment and how much visual blockage / headroom intrusion is involved....

I saw chrome mudflaps on a dub-cab in New Mexico. Looked pretty stupid to me. How 'bout reflective tint? That's pretty stupid....Oh, and those shifter knobs that are made from an actual rock! Each one is unique...it's a ferkin' rock, people, gimme a break!

The wal-mart colored tint with chrome-ish stripe through them. "batman" wheels--yuck, clear "altezza" tail lights, crappy fiberglass thing that goes behind the cab of trucks to make it look aerodynamic, Any spoiler on a truck that goes on the back of the bed, plastic taillight covers, black headlight covers, plasti-chrome wire hubcaps, chail link and barbed wire licenseplate frames, chainlink steering wheels, neon underbody kits, pretty much anything wal-mart carries for the guys you see driving early 80's ford escorts that have more money in the "accesories" than they do in the car. Just a few things off the top of my head. I could probably think of a few more....

Spinners on a 4X4 (or anything for that matter). I saw a Ford F-150 Doublecab the other day pull up and stop in a parking space about 1 foot from the curb and it looked like he was spinning his tires as he was trying to get to the curb (The parking lot was icy). Looked like he was about to slide sideways!!

I always wondered will happen when a spinner wears out at highway speeds in traffic and flies off?

Yeup... I thought of adding one many times. The thing that finally stopped me is starting to learn about _HOW_ I drive on the trails (re: right foot at the floorboards) and figured that I had enough stuff falling all over the place as it was.
