Snorkel Issues

I made my own snorkel using some ABS piping and a safari snorkel head for my T100 3.4L. I Put some screen door mesh inside the snorkel head to make sure bugs and whatnot didnt get in.

However when it rains hard rain gets in and fills up the snorkel and my airbox somehow. My KN filter makes sure no water gets past the bottom half of the box (its a clamshell type) but the water itself annoys me. How would a real snorkle make sure water doesnt get in???

I am 100% positive it isnt getting in anywhere else, all seals are tight, I used a garden hose on full blast a few times and the seals didnt leak a drop.

All Safari Charge Air Rams feature a highly effective water separator system built right into the air ram in order to remove rain water from the incoming air stream - thus ensuring safe engine operation through even the most torrential tropical storms.

Also might consider a small drain hole in the bottom of the air box to let any water that might get in drip out. My factory '85 air box has a drain hole in it:

I see where I went wrong, I thought it was building up inside the airbox b/c those little louvers were open. I sealed them with a bit of gasket maker..

I wonder if I were to drill a small hole before it even reached the airbox, in the smaller 2" diameter ABS that inside the fender area. I cannot get the snorkel head to fit OVER the abs piping at all, the piping is about 1/8 larger than the snorkel head and it wont stretch out.

Thanks for the help Roger
