After I installed bj spacers and lc coils, I put on some 33x10.5 BFG All-Terrains. My problem now is that the outside shoulder of tread is wearing much faster than the rest. Working at a tire store I asked one of the more experienced guys what they thought the reason was and they gave a very obvious explanation.
Lifting the truck, but not getting any wider tires causes the center of gravity to be much higher, thus it leans much easier around corners. This causes that outside shoulder to grip very hard and wear down quickly. The easiest solution is more backspacing with the wheels to help stabilize the truck but it really wouldn't look right. I did however upgrad to 15x8's from the stock 15x7's and this has helped a little bit because the tire seems to fit better on the wider wheel.

Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do to remedy it?

 

Mine only wear down when I've beat it out of alignment. 10.50's or 12.50's....infact I think it was more noticeable on the wider tire.

 

Yeah it seems like if it was toe in at all it would show up a lot but I dont know. I was just wondering if anyone had a similar experience.

 

I did on my bfg A/T 31x10.5R15

I changed out my tires and it went away...I put my street tires back on 285/75R16 bridgestones. I thought it was from a bad belt in the tire b/c the truck pulled.

I have also heard that when you do the bj spacers that you need to double check the first 2 adjustments of the alignment after you get done b/c the final adjustment can through them out (thats what I heard). I think it might just be the tires.

What were the specs after your alignment? also what does the angle of the tires look like from the front?

 

Visually it looks fine...maybe slightly toe in, I need to get it all checked out again so hopefully that'll fix it. My friend (bigben on this forum) works with me and he's having the same problem, he practically has the same lift too, but he's got a pickup.

If the alignment check solves it, I'd atleast like some suggestions to help with the body roll, cause sometimes...DANG!

edit: by the way, we still need to go wheelin sometime 1styota. I head off to college at the end of the month so lets get something figured out.

Well, I'll check it out but honestly it looks nothing like any other alignment wear I've ever seen in a year of working at a tire shop....By the way I've had it aligned twice since the install. The second time was only about a month and a half ago.

 

When you take it in, get the specs before they align it and post the pre and post specs up here.

That's a common alignment problem, excessive wear around the outside edge of the tire.
