I didnt have time to read through this entire thread. But i have been using SeaFoam in all my cars for years now and have always had great success.

Not only is it a good idea to use a can in the intake, a can in the gas tank, but you can also throw a can in the oil and use it as an oil flush right before you change your oil.

I would not advocate driving all over the place with a can of sea foam in yoru crank case. BUt What I usually did was poor it in while I was doing all of my otehr treatments (and startups) and let it idle in there for a long while and also leave it in there while I was revving the motor slightly.

I found this to be very effective as far as oil flushes go. Ive never taken motors apart of anything, but I did have the pan off of my 240sx a while back and found almost every single corner where there was any sludge built up had totally gone away.

(1) - intake manifold
(1) - gas tank
(1) - crankcase (but only for a small amount of time as it does thin out the oil)

Or in this picture, which hose do you I use to suck up the Seafoam?

Well, after reading this thread for....ever, I decided to give the seafoam deal a try. Just for kicks, I hooked up the a vacuum gauge to monitor the vacuum before, during and after the treatment. Not only does the rig run better, but I gained 4 inches of vauum!!

How were the vehicles running in the first place? How much did you use?

My 4Runner idles funky untill it warms up, but otherwise runs OK. 169k miles. I used 2 full bottles. My 93 Accord ran OK, 315k miles. 1 bottle. My 92 Accord had a jumpy idle and studdders at low RPM, 162k, ran 1 bottle through it today.

I've noticed that everyone seems to think that blowing blue/white smoke means it's working. I've also noticed that many people have compared this product to Marvel Mystery Oil. Has anyone considered that maybe this stuff is basically just oil, and that burning it creates a LOT of smoke? I have a boxster that when started after sitting for more than a few days smokes like hell too -- since the oil works its way past the rings and into the combustion chamber. I'm not sure all the smoke really means it's working. Just my 2 cents if anyone cares.

Those Germans are soooo sharp, engineering their Porsches to automatically burn off the carbon like that!

Has anyone thought of having spare plugs and an extra 02 sensor just for when you do the seafoam. Where you hold on to your old or fouled stuff and put them in whenever you do the treatment. Then when you are done put back the non-fouled components?

I might give this a shot. I have been running Marvel in the tank everynow and then and noticed a difference. I wonder if the gas mileage drop is due to better and more flow of gas through the injectors now that they are clean?

Cleaner injectors don't really mean less MPGs since if the injectors weren't flowing properly the engine was backing down everything else so it wouldn't run rich but my guess is you're driving it harder since you notice the power gain and are just enjoying yourself more.
