Hey guys, im new here and this is my first post. I bought a can of this stuff the other day and was reading this thread to find out how to use it. I have a 1990 pickup with a 22re. I know to disconnect the PCV hose and pour in there but can I also spray into the intake? Would that help? I also bought some TB cleaner, is that going to be useless to me now?

"With or against"? You want to pour it into the hose that's sucking. The suction is coming from the manifold vacuum, and you want the Seafoam to end up in the manifold.

Still trying to figure out how I'm going to get it down the pipe while holding the throttle so the engine doesn't stall...

Hmmm... it shouldn't be an issue Peter. If you pour it slowly enough then it won't stall. I've done it three times now through the PCV tube and haven't stalled it yet. I think the talk about stalling and getting a buddy to rev the engine is mostly about "once you start pouring, you'll get a better understanding of what's happening".

Also.. wait a LOT longer than the "15 minutes" on the can. I've had great results from 2 hours or more. In fact, I did it again today, let it sit for about 4 hours and when it started a bunch of watery sludge came shooting out the pipe (along with Le Smoke Cloud ). That was "k3wl".

I'm having trouble with keeping the engine going once I remove the PCV valve.

Thanks for the tip on letting the stuff sit though. That's good to know

You gotta put your thumb over the hose right away, otherwise it'll lean out

I'd pull the O2 sensor, hit it with intake cleaner, let it dry, and put it back in. I think you'll be okay.
I did the same thing along w/ the spark plugs. Took about 30 min total for all of them.

That's why I poured mine out of the can and into a glass jar so I could hover the hose inlet just above the meniscus and slowly slurp it up with alot more air than Seafoam. Takes some time but you won't hydrolock it that way.

Pour it into a jar, Mark it off into 1/3's, extend the hose from the PCV valve to the manifold, set the jar on the bumper or airbox or something, put a thumb on the throttle at the throttle body, slowly begin sucking it in like I state above, and if it starts to stall push the throttle with you thumb a little.

Just did it on my 90 3.0, put 1/3 in intake, full can in gas tank, smoked a little nothing major, drove down the street and back and it seems like it helped a little, maybe once the can in the gas starts working I will notice alot more, now my BMW on the other hand, WOW, it helped out a pretty good bit!

Funny - I did mine today and barely noticed any smoke. It was white too... maybe my cat is clogged?

Maybe you didn't get enough in there. Try a couple of intake treatments and you'll get the blue/white smoke...

I'm thinking maybe I didn't wait long enough. I waited an hour but I was thinking about it and when I attempted to clean my TB last Saturday the stuff in there was like black pancake syrup... I probably should have waited longer.

Man, it really does hurt to have to pinch that line for so long!
