rattle can job

so I want to spray my truck I was thinking about using Krylon Olive Drab... I did some searching on this I found alot of useful stuff.... But one thing I didnt find is how is the paint holding up??? Is it peeling or starting to show the paint below it?? and did you prime it?? it seams like few ppl metioned if they primed it so should I just sand it down wipe it clean then start spraying then sand that wipe it then spray more??

JUNK! don't waste your time. for a little more you should at least have some single stage mixed up and put in aresol form.

I did my Harley in flat black and really all I did was rough up the stock paint with some 150 grit premiered it and sprayed the first coat lightly and let it sit for 15 mins and repeated that for like 7-8 more coats. Once it dried I sanded it with 220 lightly to get all the rough spots out then used a flat clear by KYRLON did like 4 cans of it and sanded it with 800 then 1000 then 1500 then finally 2000 for a nice smooth finish. You can always do more or less depending on what your looking to get out of it.

Here's how it turned out not to bad for a rattle can job if you ask me

Any paint job weather it is a rattle can or House Of Kolors paint is only as good as the prep and finish work done. As for your truck it could be very nice if someone had done the proper prep work before painting it.

Hey 91.. Not too late to undo the p.o's errors. after the 5spd swap a long weekend would be worth having a beautiful truck. i love your stance by the way.

I agree get yourself a sander and go to town you can make that thing look real good real cheap if your willing to do some sanding rattle can it or you can do the roll on paint job but that too requires some good prep work to look good when finished.

Anything worth doing is going to be hard. Dont look at this as an obsticle to avoid, but as a challenge to overcome. Think about all the knowledge you'll gain, about your truck and in general.

I sanded, bondo, and premiered my truck last summer. It was pretty easy, the hardest part was the bondo but that was because I haven't ever done that before. after it was preped I took it to a paint shop my step-dad use to work at. They did some more prep and painted three times before it came out good. The first two times it had a lot of "Fisheyes", but in the end it only costed $500. It looks awsome in stage one white!

rattle can paint is not a long term solution. i like it because it is quick, cheap and easy. i dont even bother to sand the substrate when i use it. if you dont mind messing with it every couple years but it just doesn't contain the solids to hold up long term
