As far as I know you cannot import cars that new. They have to be something like 15 years old or so to legally import. At least thats the way it is up here....

I believe you can, dont think it depends on the age of the vehicle down here. Its fine if you have a dealer import one, but if you do it yourself you can only import 3 cars throughout your life time.

Look up the Belizean or maybe even a Mexican Toyota dealer. They dont really look that nice compared to the Taco or Tundra in my opinion. But probably cause i see them every day. I would look at a LC 70 series...mmmmmm

i looked into importing my surf, but one of the companies over here said i have to provide another Surf to crash test and then i would have to pay to have all my glass swapped out with safety glass and the rest of the truck inspected to ensure it was up to U.S. specs....seems more trouble than its worth, now if i had a Diesel surf i would definitely spend the money to import it!!!

Well, go to www.belizediesel.com and ask them for Hilux info. it is in English because Belize's first language is ENGLISH not spanish. PlUS...the new hilux has the 3.0L I6 Turbo, Intecooled Diesel and yet only gets 25MPG (my friend buys new ones every time they come out or really good packages are offered.).

I would wait till the next gen Hilux comes out with the 4.5L Twin Turbo diesel.

cbrsport17: Want to import your rig??? i know a guy who does it for people, an american down here in Belize got his hands on a 3rd gen Surf 3.0L turbo diesel straight from Japan, no inspections, nothing.

in canada it is usually the case that the vehicle has to be 15 years old.
i believe in the us it's usually about 25 years old? but i've seen like R34 Nissan Skyline's come up into van for car show's from washington. and beside's there is actually ONE R34 Nissan Skyline here in the lower mainland. fully registered and insured as an R34... AK Autoworks brought it in.... you can bring anything in if you really want... money talks.

An importer paid for the crash testing so that they could import R34's into the US.

They can get illegal guns, drugs and people into the US you could get a car in here. Just rig it so its something else, like a new Tacoma.

Where theres a will theres a way

and I gotta say that the import laws on vehicles in the USA is HORSE CRAP. It's total crap, just dumb.

I know when i was looking into acquiring a Unimog, most folks had to register them as farm only vehicles. But as we all know, you can still drive a tractor on the road, just need that nifty triangle. =p

I hate our RETARDED laws.
