Best transmission fluid advice I've seen

This seems to be good straightforward advice about changing your transmission fluid. The last part is especially important to 3rd gens and older.

I've been saying that to everyone that doesn't know when the fluid was changed last. Including when I worked at oil change places. Any reputable place will also tell you this. Other greedy ones or ones that don't know what they are doing will take your $100 flush service without asking questions, or convince you to change and flush the fluid because it's "dark"

Good stuff. I usually drain/fill, run it for a few days, and repeat this a few times before dropping the pan and replacing the screen. Not sure if there's any benefit to it but my logic is that it may help to avoid 'shocking' the transmission with all new fluid (similar to moving a fish to water at a different temp if that makes any sense). Maybe it helps, maybe it doesn't, but it sure doesn't hurt it. Either way I don't think I'd ever cycle all new fluid into my (now 250k) original A340H.

Perfectly fine, and you cannot power flush a manual transmission. If a shop tries to tell you otherwise, find a new shop and report them to the BBB.

x2...I hate to say it but with the economy in the condition it's in, some shops are doing whatever they can to get a buck, including taking advantage of people who don't know any better.

I'm lucky enough to have a marina thats full of tools and room to work at haha. But I was just going to to pull the drain bolt let it all drain and fill it back. Just wondering what do you guys run in your manual for fluid?
