Anyone going to do the 5.7 L i-Force swap?

Who's gonna be the first to swap a 5.7 Liter i-force into their truck or 4runner?

I Just heard a STRONG rumour that this new Tundra engine will have 355 Horsepower and 380 ft-lbs of torque.

Or how about the new Lexus LS engine and transmission?

The new LS 460 will have a 4.6 liter engine with 380 horsepower and 370 ft-lbs of torque mated to an 8, yes EIGHT, speed automatic transmission. The first transmission of it's kind.

HAHA, i sure hope so Jeffires... They'll need to think up quite the centre console for that though... You'll need the people in the backseat for 1st and 2nd...

autos with selectable gears are for guys that like to think they've got a real tranny.

i always figured a big six would be more toyota's style than a big V8...viva la 2F...

People swap Chevy 350's (which are 5.7L) in yotas all the time.

displacement doesn't necessarily directly relate to external engine dimensions. take, for example, the 281(4.6l) ford, and the 351 ford. the 4.6 dwarfs the 351 in size, it's nearly as big as a 460 big block.

same goes for the 2.7l toyota, that engine with the manifolds on is approximately the size of a chevy small block.

Are you saying the 5.7L wouldn't fit then? Just curious.

no, i'm saying that the engine's displacement and external size aren't always related.

however, i'm sure the engine is almost certainly going to be of a DOHC design, which typically isn't compact. most likely a relative of the current 4.7L mill.

And has anyone swapped the 4.7 L i-Force into a Taco/Pickup/4runner? (other than the obvious 03 plus 4runners that came with the 4.7)

I hear you there. I was just curious. That would be quite the motor for a 'compact' truck, provided it would fit.
