Another question, cleaning pistons!

Ok guys, I'm reading through my FSM, and it tells me to thoroughly clean the pistons with a solvent and a brush... well my question is, what kind of 'solvent' do I use and what kind of brush do I use? I wish the FSM was a little more specific...

Thanks,
-Nick
