$50 Paint Job

Check this out!

I think I might be giving my 4Runner a new paint job in the nearby future!

Ya know...if those cars were painted in the method he claims...and this isn't some "April Fools" kind of joke, then I have to admit that they look really, really good. I mean, surprisingly good.

Hmmm...I wonder if they make a gray metallic paint...

Its been around a long time, yes it works and the worst that can happen is it looks like an orange peel in texture.

Better yet is to use boat paint, already thinned, comes in a variety of colors, is generally tougher and lasts longer.

I read that entire thread, which ends up being locked, and started in another twice. In the thread their are many users who try it out with great results.

There's an article in Hot Rod about it. They said it works, but it's a 10' paintjob and A LOT of work - TONS of sanding.

I was interested in this at one point for another vehicle. If you read the threads its not as easy as it seems. Tons of sanding and recoating... take it to a MACO or some place similar. 500 bucks

This is why the boat paint works so much better, its already ready to go being thinned out and all and is more durable.

I may try the boat paint on mine. I just bought a bed that isn't rusted out and am going to be repainting the whole thing.
