I have the 16" 5-spoke swirl Tacoma/Tundra rims, and I am wondering if anybody knows the specs on them, as in how wide they are, and what their backspacing is. The reason I ask is, I can get a set of BFG AT's that are 295/75r16, which is a 33x11.50r16, but these tires are about 50-60% tread, so not quite a 33". I ran 32x11.50r15 BFG AT's brand new before on boyd coddington knockoff rims with backspacing that made them stick out outside the fenders, and they rubbed just a little bit. Since then I have cranked the torsions and put an AAL in the rear to take the sag out and it sits alot higher than when the 32's were on. Could I get away with this size? I searched and came up with mixed thoughts, and I also want to know the specs on my rims...

16 x 7 i think. theres a big difference between 245's and 295's.

 

Im just curious mainly if they are 16x7 or 16x8... Im wondering how that will effect the tire (since if its a skinnier rim, it makes the tire taller?)... And yes I know there is a big difference between a 245 and a 295... The 245 is tiny as hell on the truck, they look way too small, but I got the set of 245 MT/R's for a deal, so thats why I have them. As stated I previously was running 32x11.50r15 BFG AT's, on a rim with an offset that made the tires sit further out than a stock rim (not sure if that is more or less backspacing), the truck was sagging and sat lower at that time, and I barely rubbed at full compression and tire turn. I have since added an AAL to the rear, and cranked the torsions to bring it back up to mid ride height.

 

the 5 spoke 4runner wheel is a 16x7 so its prob safe to assume the tacoma wheel is the same

 

it might be cast into the back of the wheel.

too wide of a tire on too narrow of a wheel with too low air pressure might get hairy.

 

Somewhere on the wheel, either on the outside in between two of the spokes, or on the inside should be a set of raised numbers that describe the wheel size. It should read something like "16x7JJ", the first number is the wheel/tire bead size, and the 2nd number after the x should be the wheel width.
