While I understand if I tighten the torsion bars to raise my stock front end, I will be giving up ride quality….. how much height can I expect to gain and still be safe? Also, what size blocks are folks running in the rear to level everything out? I’d like to run maybe 31x10.5x15? Is this wheel size possible with just rear blocks and some torsion bar tightening? If not, any recommended sizes? Thanks!
My 1987 RN6 had the torsion bars raised about 1.5". There was NO ride quality. A buckboard being pulled by a mule down a rutted dirt road is about the best analogy I can make. In addition, Torsion bars are hard on whatever ball joints they're passing through. In this case, the uppers. So cranking the torsion bars to raise the front will put even more stress on the UBJ.
I'm sure someone here can give you better ways of doing it without ruining the ride.
imho, axle blocks on the rear springs is a hillbilly solution, but i can see the attraction because it's a lot cheaper than putting better springs on the truck.
it's a nice straight truck, but in the end it's a long bed, which equals unfavorable departure angle, worsened by a lot of rear bumper overhang.
