Hey 2DoorRunner - for your passenger seat, there should be a "kick pedal" on the back, outer side, wihch the rear passenger would press to scoot the seat forward (and then open the door with the second handle).

Do you not have that either?

I'd heard about the roll bar seatbelts before - bet those holes would be great for screwing in mounts for a soft top/bikini top.

Yeah i have the right seat with the foot pedal and everything. Something must just be disconnected.

And i wonder if that plate has something to do with the way the body moved through the assembly line?

I thought the same thing too, however it's not exactly centered. It's more to the passenger side. Doesn't look like it's easily removed either.

might have to get in contact with some aussi's to see if the hilux has the same square cover.

I have wondered about it for years. now you got me thinking to do a google search. I bet it has a specific name and google won't tell meet shtick about it.

yeah google won't help unless we know the name of it. I'll look though the part catalog and see if I see it, but I doubt it.

makes sense for the first gen pickups but was not aware that the 85-88 body style had a camper option.

it's so your body and frame rust out, making you want to buy a new yota.

naw, but i think it's just a void of body, frame, engine, and other stuff, like between the inner and outer sides of the bed
