who do you guys recommend for an engine rebuild kit?

im gonna rebuild my 22re. i was going to go with a LC engineering master rebuild kit, but i found out about the engnbldr master kit from a friend and it is more affordable and it comes with a cam. i was going to spend about $1000 for the engine master rebuild kit, EFI pro street cam, and headers from LC and only about $380-$400 from engnbldr. is there a big difference between the two companies in quality? i know LC has great products also. what do you guys recommend?

BTW.... HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone!

Red face

without a doubt i would go with Engine Builder in a heart beat

They are great people to deal with.

I think lce is way over priced and have never bought one thing from them even though I have way to many Toyotas.

Just remember you are trying to get more horsepower out of a 4 cylinder don`t get me wrong I love these 22r series engines . But if you want raw power go with a swap to a small block chevy.

The 22r engines make horse power in the head go with the over size valves and cam and don`t go crazy with compression you should be good to go.

22re rebuild kit type

Does it really matter which rebuild kit i use. I checked the engnbldr and it about 200 for the kit. on ebay there is a "premium rebuild kit" http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/81-95...Q5fAccessories
It says it comes with moly or crome rings, i really dont know the difference. is this a good one to get? it's 300 and comes with a timing set too along with everything I need. would you reccomend one in it's place. does it really matter that much. I read it wont really any power, but if the rings and seals are better it would make more sense, or how long it lasts.

many have had trouble with "chrome" rings seating properly. If you search there are threads covering this issue and the corresponding oil consumption that happens because of an improper seating.
