Pics of the "rollbar". Seems to me that you are talking about a light bar, which would help, but is not nearly as good as something bolted to the frame.

Thats not a REAL roll bar, if you want something bomb proof get one that will bolt to the frame.

Although im sure it couldnt hurt to install it.

now I'm worried.....

So maybe I should make him get rid of the truck? There very dangerous aren't they? How much is a roll bar connecting to the frame...? Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.... won't get much sleep tonite.

who said anything about something being dangerous?

are you one of those over-protective parents that doesn't let his kids out of the house, EVER.

my 1980 toyota with the SAME roll bar, rolled over onto it's top, and the roll bar protected the cab from getting crushed in, so i know for a fact that they do "OK".

as far as mounting one......i'm about 99.9% sure my 8 year old cousin could bolt it into the bed of a pickup by his self............

She is not an overprotective mother....I broke my broke my back on a skateboard three weeks ago... She's just hoping I won't break my neck. Man, I have no problem bolting it on....my dad is the one who is pissed that she let me get the truck and said it needed to be welded on to do any good....and I don't weld. You suck.

Easy there!

First off, welcome to the forum. Secondly there is a way to post a question and you really should read the how to section. Dont' come in with your guns blazin.

As for Mom, its nice you care about your family. I think that a truck is a very safe option for your son, but I also think most of us who drive a truck want a little more rollover protection. A roll bar to the bed will help but a roll bar to the frame is the best. Should cost around 3 to 4 hundred for a good rollbar. Probably another 3- 4 hundred to have somone fab it through the bed and weld it properly.

Anyway, look up a local weld shop and inquire into costs before you lay out the money for a roll bar.

By the way, welcome to the toyota family!
