should i add it to the gas, pcv hose, etc before i do an oil change or a full tune up or is it better if i do it afterwards? If one is better than the other why?

Or does this not matter...? I thought i read somewhere that it's better to do it before, but i don't remember where i read that.

 

I would advise doing to before a plug change if you're adding it through a vacuum hose (brake booster line being the most common)... I run about half through the vac and the other half in the gas....

Well if it cleans a large amount of carbon buildup and dumps it in your cylinders there is a potential to foul or put buildup on the plugs.

 

half a can in the tank???? what a waste.. jeesh. if you want that stuff to really work do it per MLT 4-Runner's idea.. i have done and can tell a TRUE difference

2-3 cans for half tank of gas, run till empty
1 can via the booster or pcv line but do it in 1\3 increments. so therefore you will do this 3 times for 1 can of seafoam. suck in 1\3 let it sit for an hour burn it out and repeat.. some people wait to turn the truck off as soon as you see smoke, then shut it down for 30 mins to an hour... 1/2 can of seafoam in your tank is nonsense and wasteful, imo

 

I should have specified 50% on an empty tank, and in theory if you keep up with your maintenance while using good fuel and oil you shouldnt have to put a whole lot in it to tell a difference....

If you're needing 3 cans in the tank to clean the injectors and such for adequate results, it may be time for a new fuel filter.

But, to each thier own

 

Can someone point out the PCV hose or Brake Booster Line for me on a 3.0L 95 4Runner?

Is Seafoam poured in or sucked in?

i poured it in very very slowly so that i don't hydrolock my engine. I read one report of that and was afraid.

So in the end i did 1/3 into the PCV hose, then 1/3 into the crank case on an empty tank of gas.... ran the engine and it smoked for a good amount of time. My engine is more responsive now. =)

Then i filled up my gas and put in a pint of seafoam and ran the last 1/3 of the first can into the PCV hose again. I smoked out the gas station i was at and a cop drove up to me. I thought he was going to tell me to turn off my engine, but he just got on his cell and made a call. after the 2nd time my car was running pretty smooth. I like! thanks for the help! i'd suggest this stuff for a quick clean.

 

Don't use the brake booster line of the 3.4. It only feed 3 cyliders if i remember right. Use the PCV as it feeds all cylinders.
