what trans is in my 90 4runner?

W trans were behind the EFI 4 cyls, R's were behind the v6's and turbo 4's, G's were behind the carb'd 4's.
x2 the door jam vin plate will tell you what you have unless it's been changed.

it is a r150f according to the door. didnt even think to look there.
is this trans good enough to be put behind a stock 302 conversion to handle street/ beach duty? i would like to keep a manual transmission and keep the cost low if possible.
one more question. if i were to swap a 3.4 would this trans work with that engine?
i'm trying to pick my donor vehicle

Should, as long as you don't womp on it too much. What does the 302 put out? like high 200, low 300 hp? about the same tq?
R150F will bolt up to the 5vzfe. They use the R150 behind those engines. Theres a whole forum dedicated to the 3.4L swap. Search there.

thanks for the info. the 302 from the 96 is rated at 210/280.
i have been reading for 2 solid days now. with the 302 swap i either see projects that were not completed or trucks that already have a 302 and no build info. i hate going into something blind but there doesnt seem to be a ton of info floating around on the 302 swap.
the only thing i know for sure is i need a body lift. not sure if a suspension lift is needed with an IRS truck

IMO it will hold to a mild 302. but... if your looking cost wise think of the cost of the adapter as well. Advance adapters doesn't make one for the SBF's. Not sure who does. But to give you an idea a SBC to r150 adapter is $416. Domestic trans to toyota transfer case adapters are more then that as well. Sometimes it's just better to grab the whole drivetrain engine to t-case. But if you do that make sure it's a full time case not a part time case.

I knew someone made them. $1400 is a lot, but you also pay for the ease of swap as well. I don't know what all goes into it as well. Just giving options on what I was looking at when thinking of doing the SBF swap. I thought it would be much cheaper to go with the whole drivetrain but might not be as easy to fab what would be needed. So you elther pay for it with your wallet or blood and sweat, lol.
