Tranny and Tcase compatibility?

I have an 88 3.0 with a manual from something way newer, the new tranny is still a r150f but the tcase is the ones without the J pattern, just the 4LO-N-2Hi then a button for 4wd hi.

Since I don't have any of the complicated wiring for getting a button to lock the center diff in the tcase i was wondering if any transfer cases from any other r150f mates would work?

Also, could I take the tcase off of the transmission without dropping them both?

Thanks for your help, this is regarding an 88 and something newer so I didn't know what section to put it on...newbie it is.

I think I would rather grab a wiring diagram, research the switch controls and what is necessary for the center to lock. (speed sensor, gear selector, etc) Then I would prob just do my own generic switch to the locking solenoid. Especially if it's just a switch that completes a circuit. I don't know about this particular model, but I have twisted wise together on 80 series cruisers to get them through the trail...
