Sheet metal + Tubing

Heres a noob question,

What gauge steel should I use to fix my floors and windshield seal surface?(bottom two corners rotten underneath the seal) I have no idea on sheet metal, never bought it new before, always just got what I could find at the local metal recycling yard and I probably sounded like an idiot when I called up the local steel supply and didnt know what I needed, Any trick to measuring the gauge/thickness because I really dont know how that works.

I also need to know what would be the best size tubing to build my tube deck/cage, sliders + front bumper out of? I really have no idea on what wall thickness and what diameter I should use. Im taking ideas from this guys design and would like to have the same size tubing but I have no idea.

Sheet metal gets thicker as it's guage number gets smaller. As a quick rule of thumb, 16 guage steel is approx 1/16th of an inch thick, and 22 guage steel is approx 1/32th of an inch thick. Auto body steel is typically 22 guage, and vehicle floors would probably be 14 or 16 guage (I've never replaced floor panels, so I'm guessing about that one.)

Take a look at this link to see a conversion chart from guage to inches.
