Sap on truck?

I bought my truck used and on parts of it are white blotches that are in a crystalized form, im thinking the previous owner parked it under and tree and it is sap because one of the spots on the side of the truck is in the shape of a drip, does anyone know if this is sap or something else, or if there is anything i can do to get rid of it, i have already tried some products that are supposed to take off tar, but did not work

My grandpa once told me to use hair spray to get off tree sap (he's a logger) or maybe some adhesive remover.

Hello everyone, I resurrected this thread because I have gotten alot of sap on my truck from parking under a tree and its been there for months. A month or two ago I tried hot water+soap,WD-40(probably a bad idea),windex, and simple green and neither seemed to do much. Today I decided I was fed up with all this sap ruining my, just over a year old, paint job. I did some research and I found that people have used rubbing alcohol for this. I just went out to the store, bought some 70% rubbing alcohol and cotton balls. Vola! The sap seems to get removed even after being caked on. Make sure you wash it off when finished. I would recommend a coat of wax after doing this because if the alcohol didn't remove the wax, the tree sap would have. Unfortunately for me I just waxed the truck 2 weeks ago, so I'll probably have to do it over in most spots. Just though I'd share this with everyone in case you happen to get evil tree sap on your precious paint job!
