Residue on radiator cap?

Residue on radiator cap?

I got this oil like looking residue on my radiator cap is this normal or a bad sign? It's an 83 sr5 pickup 4x4

Have you recently flushed the system? Doesn't look like anything I personally would worry about but you can always drain a little in a cup and see what it looks like.

Does the coolant look normal when you take the cap off?

Yes when I rebuilt my motor recently I took the radiator to get cleaned out. and the coolant does look normal to me

Yea, wouldn't worry about it too much might be some residual from the rebuild, if something was failing it would be noticeable looking at the coolant.

Just a little oil in the engine most likely used as assembly lube or to keep things from rusting .

Now if it gets much worse just keep an eye on things
