Rear anti-lock dash light

Hi Toyota crew. 93 4runner V6 5-speed. The rear anti-lock dash light always on when running. Is this maby from a problem with the sensor on top of the rear differential? I need to pass E-test to get this nice auction 4runner on he road. E-test center will not run the truck on the dyno with the rear anti-lock light on. Is there a way to check if the system is working or not. I would like to know about any good ways to disable the dash light. Thanks for the help.

I have the same problem it's always on! I'm not quite sure how to fix it but that's weird they won't run the emissions for it because my light was on and they still ran mine. I think mine is a sensor problem because my brakes brake fine, I just have yet to take the time to figure it out.

It's not working, the light is on.

You can remove the bulb and remove the ABS function from the truck

Once you're deemed roadworthy you can diagnose and repair the ABS if you want it to work. From what I remember:

1) it won't work if the rear diff lock is engaged, or if you're 4wd.
2) it won't work if the sensor, sensor circuit (wiring) or pump has failed.

There's a diagnosis procedure in the manual somewhere, I haven't looked at one of these in a long time. Meh, if it were my own truck, I'd remove the bulb and just drive.

I'm not sure about the diagnosis and repairing of the rear ABS, but I do know that it will work in any drive mode. It just won't work if the front wheels lock up. This is the first winter I've had my 4runner and snow driving isn't really improved much with the rear ABS. It would probably help in wet conditions or any time that you have a light weight rear end. Hope this helps you determine if its worth repairing.

On a 93? IIRC there was no rear diff lock in 93 and the pump is the power steering pump.

I have completely disabled the rear ABS on my truck and have no light on. I think the trick is to unplug the ABS computer, its up under the dash behind the glove box.

Or unplug the relay under the hood.
