radiator overflow

this might be stupid, but since this is my first yota, i just wanted to see if this was normal for them. when i run my 95 3.0 runner, every once in a while there will be bubbling coolant in the overflow bottle, but not all the time. theres no leak, and one time since ive gotten it the temp gauge has gotten to the half way mark, but rest of time it stays under, bout 40% up on the gauge. does this happen sometimes, or do i just need to flush/fill up the radiator? thanks for any info, im just tryin to learn bout the usual quirks that yotas might have. but i must say i love driving the thing way better than all the jeeps ive been drivin for years. thanks.

Do you ever have to add coolant? Is there anything blocking the air-flow through the radiator that might cause the temp to rise if you push the truck hard? How's the condition of the fan clutch?

Maybe the thermostat is sticking. Might be time for a flush.

Or a radiator,or a blockage due to excess stop leak,or insufficient antifreeze.I had one to run hot but the guage was lazy and showed normal temp.I like to never figured that one out!Stop leak my ass.Causes more problems than it's worth!

hey im bout to hopefully fix it..but i descovered this am after work, i ran the truck bout 75 on the way home, coolant was bubling in reserve tank..some was on the side of the truck.added some coolant the other day. let the truck sit, then drove around town, normal temp, no bubling, but light smell of fluid. could it just be a flush, or thermo prob? theres no leak on the ground when parked, or from radiator. thanks

Smile good news..i hope

took the runner in yesterday, had compleate flush, replace cap and thermostat..drove like a banchee home..no bubbling or that dang sweet smell..i hope that did it..when the tech took the cap off, he saw some silicone gasket floating around, like whats around the waterpump...the silicone/pump look faily new so i think someone replaced it not long before i bought it. and the seal on the cap kinda fell apart when he took it off..hope that did it..called dealership too and they said that they stopped the vo6 special service campaign like 2 years ago..but i forgot to ask if mine had been done..oh well i hope not to run into that prob..$150 for flush/thermo is alot.
