Question on lift points

Is it OK to lift the rear of the '01 4Runner by using a jack under the pumpkin or rear diff? I see it listed as a lift point in on pic online . Anyone know for sure if it's OK to lift it here? Thanks

I have for ~30 years on all kinds of vehicles.

The last time I had tires installed on a 26,000 lb truck they lifted it by the pumpkin.

No problem at all but remember that with both rear tires off the ground on a incline the vehicle will roll if fronts aren't chocked.

Thanks for all the replies. The owner's manual for my Mustang says NOT to use the jack under the pumpkin. That was the reason for asking.
Thanks again.

And a Mustang is not a 4Runner. Sorry if the question annoyed you. Some of us don't know it all and we ask questions to find the answer.

A Mustang does have a pumpkin and so does a 4Runner. So, in this way, they are alike.

true, I'm sure they said that as a liability waiver...

And I wouldn't own a car that a rear diff couldn't support the cars weight...

Plus, Mustang's IRS, no?

No, a Mustang does NOT have IRS. It's hard to believe but it still has a straight axle.
