Does anybody know of any downsides of running a pair of tires in the front and a different pair in the back of my 4runner, assuming they are the same size and are all A/T tires? Would gas mileage suffer? Is it bad for the 4wd? Thank you!

You'll be fine. I've done that before as many others have I'm sure. Gas mileage should not be affected and it won't be bad for the 4WD system.

All in all, not a good idea. You could get by with it if you weren't going to use 4WD. Don't forget about carrying two different sized spares too!

 

Paying $700 is wrong with getting a set of 4 when I have 2 perfectly good pairs. Thanks everyone

 

when I bought my truck it had Hankook ATs on the front and Dunlop ATs on the back.. It was fine, I wheeled it like that for ages. They were all 31's

 

Wish we had those here in the US.
