I have almost everything to do a 3in lift on my Runner, its a 99 SR5 with 217xxx miles on it. I really want some 33x10.5 15 tires after I get the lift, but I'm worried about that age of the suspicion components and drive ability since its my DD. Any one had any problems or for see any for me? I have 31s right now. Gas mileage I know will suffer but thats a given and I'm ok with that. I have already replaced the lower ball joints on both sides.

 

your suspension components should be fine. my 95 is my DD its got a pavement pounder lift along with 33s and its jsut fine besides bein extremely slow

 

I wouldn't worry about it, and I also wouldn't go 3" to fit 33x10.5. I got about 1.75" of lift up front and clear 33x10.5's excellently. With 3" of lift your going to run into cv problems.

 

If nothing else get a body lift too that's what I did plus u get new body bushings

 

Well I already have (almost) everything for the lift, I got OME rear springs and was going to get 2.5in daystar front spacers, and I have a dif drop already, so the cv angles should be alright. If I get new tires they will prob be BFG ATs again. Its either 33s soon or wait till mine wear out and get something bigger.

Another question, re gear for 33s? If so what ratio?

 

you should be ok with stock gears but if you are worried about it go with 4.56s

 

Ya I just noticed the guy that says his is slow has a older model 4cyl, and mines a newer 6cyl so that makes more sense.

 

I'm running 285's with 4.88 gears and its just enough gearing. In my opinion, for your money, you shoud go at least 4.88's. Some runners and tacos come with 4.56 gearing. At 60 miles per hour my rpm's are at 2000. If I could do it again I would go 5.13 gears but mine is not a daily driver. I'm down to 16 mpg with all my mods.

 

ya i reckond you had a v6 so stock gears should do just fine you might be under powerd a bit but if you have 31s already it wont make much difference

 

I use a revtek lift it seemed to be the highest lift more like a true 3" lift. Plus I have the original CV joints and finally have the boot on the passenger side giving out. CV's shouldn't be a problem. Also the stock gears are fine. That's why there is a low side

 

285s plus a 3.4L and a 5spd if anything its a little faster now lol

 

you're cv's should be fine and the gearing, if anything, 4.56 will suite it well. Stockers will be ok though. The only thing I would be worried about with 33's is rubbing on the UCA cus there wont be much room. IF that happens about a 1" - 1.25" spacer will be a must.

that 3" will be fine. Even with diff drop though, imo the cv's are in terrible angle but it should be fine. Like you already know, fuel mileage and power will go down. I think you run out of caster too.
If youll regear and you have auto, I think 5.29s might get you in the 5speed gear range.
