Overheating
I just recently purchased an 1989 toyota 4x4 with 3.0v6 and auto transmission. Right after I purchased it I noticed the temperature gauge was running just a hair past middle point so I had the radiator flushed and a new thermostat put in the truck is still running a little hot but now I notice when I shut it down seems like it gets hotter after about a minute or so it will start gurgleing in the over flow tank. I purged the radiator best I could shouldn't be any air in it. Please kelp its ticking me off..

I dunno Zuk.....my rad, even when brand new, would overflow (bubbles being purged?) but not shoot coolant out with the cap off. His rad could be plugged tho as you suggest. OP, can you clarify what you mean by 'shoots some water out'?

yes I bought a new radiator cap and it has helped it doesn't get as hot as it did but sometimes it still climbs to about 3/4 temp when i'm sitting and idleing and it doesn't gurgle over to my overflow a minute or two after I shut it off so thats progress. Clutch fan seems ok waterpump doesn't leak nor is there any play in the shaft. Called the radiator shop the will pull the radiator and boil it out for 200.00 or I can by a new radiator 159.99 new radiator is the way I'm going along with all new hoses. for 200 buck i'll have all new stuff.

Oh, and fill the block through the upper radiator hose before attaching it to the radiator.
