Not likely, and even with TC stuff your IFS will hate you. You have to remember you're adding a lot of travel into the equation and not a whole lot of extra height. My 35's and no lift worked because it also had very little travel. I'm thinking you'll be more in the 36-37 range.

My '86 is back down to 33's, this is post bed trim as well, just zipped the fenders off up at the first body line. Truck works and handles much better now IMO.

If you had 35's on no lift shouldn't I be able to do a 40's with the TC kit, 2" body lift and 3" fender lift or are you saying that steering it will be hard and be a rough ride?

The TC kit isn't a lift, you may gain an inch or two over stock heigh, so then you're looking at roughly a 6-7" lift overall, and adding a ton of travel wheel travel in with it. Like I said, I didn't have anything for suspension travel, a 35 stuffed on stock suspension was still nowhere near the top of the fender in the front. The TC kit gives you a ton of travel

The diff is still weak, those 35's also helped me blow up a stock diff on the first real obstacle I tried and they were bald. If you want big tires, spend the money on a solid axle instead. My truck is going to 37's after I torch all this junk out from under it.

1997 4Runner SR5 4WD tire sizes

I am newbie and have a question regarding tires for my 1997 4 runner. The stock tire size is 265/70 R16 which are worn and need to be replaced. There's a listing on Craigslist for set of 4 BFG A/T tires (like new) and 15" wheels (at a great price) but the size is 31 x 10.5 x 15. Will I have any issues with the 15" wheels (rubbing from brakes etc...)? The good news is I also have a 2000 Tacoma that could use the 31 x 10.5 x 15 wheels and tires if they don't fit the 4Runner. Thanks for your help

BFG's are great tires but 15" tires will not fit on 16" rims. If your pick-up has 15" rims then you may still want to get the tires.

We could use more information in order to answer specific questions. I suggest that you include the make, model, drive train, and any other pertinent details into your signature. On a vehicle like mine you would be able to fairly easily fit a 33" tire but then would need to change the gearing in the differentials to compensate. If the stock tire size is a 28" tire you can go up to a 31" tire with out changing the gears.

Its a 97 4runner with the 3.4 and its an s5r 4x4. No lockers, just open diffs. And i really dont think that a 33 inch tire will require a new differential system. I mean if i were building a rig, id construct it accordingly. but, i just mean what type of tire do yall recommend for my terrain condition.

If the stock tire size is a 28" you can go up to a 31" tire without changing the gears.

1997 4Runner SR5 4WD tire sizes

I should have been clearer with my post. The listing on Craigslist includes the 31 x 10.5 x 15 tires and the 15" rims. I just wanted to confirm the 15" rims and tires would fit on my 1997 4Runner which currently have 265/70R16 tires. I would replace the stock rim and tires with the 15" set.

I can't say for a 100% fact that they will. Although I believe that you wouldn't have to worry about rubbing or anything like that from the size of the tire. However depending on the back spacing of the rim you may have to run a wheel spacer for caliper clearance. Other then that I'd say your okay. And if they are priced right but emm anyway. You can always resale if you get them fairly cheap.

The 15" rims are also included with the BFG A/T tires.

First, am I posting in the correct location? I am a total newbie. First post ever, just joined 10 minutes ago.
Anyway, I am new to Yota's having just bought my first one ever about 5 months ago. I have always had Fords, Chevy, and Jeeps, and now I have my 4Runner. I know I will love it, but for now she needs some work.
I need new tires, and just want a little bigger than the 235/75/15's I have right now, but I don't want to get new rims yet. I saw one just like mine yesterday and he had 33/10.5/15's on his. It looked great! I didn't get to meet the guy and I do not know if he had any lift.
Will these fit mine? 93, V6, Automatic, 4wd. Looks stock, but the tires look very small. I cannot tell if there is left under it.
Thanks guys!

They will fit in the wheel well but you might get some rubbing.

Do you know the rim backspacing? Lift wise a simple 1" body lift should clear the 33"s.

I replaced my factory aluminum wheels with new new aluminums on my 86 pickup and was wondering if the 86 wheels will fit my 2014 tacoma. The Taco has 16" aluminums on it now and the 86 wheels are 15". Will the back spacing be the same between them?

Going big but not huge

Newbie post, trying to put some air into this tire thread...while following rules. This is closest thread to the questions I have, so here we go...
Truck: 89 HiLux (pickup) with the 2.4 (22r)carbed, 2WD, 103swb....bone stock.
The plan: bigger tires with grip, yet smooth for highway rollin - I seldom get off-road...so no need for muslingers or big knobby paddle wheels... I want to do something that looks aggressive, fills the wheels wells up nicely, yet does not make me top heavy and susceptible to somersaults at 55mph switching lanes...

Suggestions? Pics are welcome...
