Like some of the other guys said...get the right backspacing on your wheels and you wont have any rub issues...besides it looks cool when the tires stick out man!

The stick out pretty far already.

Thanks for the replies fellas.

Badfish, 33's are great and I would probably stay with that size if I didn't have to regear and need replacement tires at the same time. Bits of ring teeth fell out of my drain plug when I went to eliminate my ADD system. My tires are also getting pretty bald so figured why not go a bit bigger to help out in the muskeet bogs which are almost bottomless way up here. I really don't like getting stuck in them, they literally make the inside of the truck stink like manure for the entire wheeling season and for 6 weeks after your last trip before everything freezes again.

Next project that will happen along with body work is carpet removal.

EDIT//

I'll also be getting new plastic for my steering stops. The metal has punched through the old plastic and you can feel a recess where it's been grinding to make that sound. Thanks again Badfish.

I went down to look under the front after I wrote the above. My skid plate is still off from my ADD elimination attempt. I saw that damage and took a look at my steering stabilizer which is definitely stock.

Thanks again.

So besides a beefier steering stabilizer and new plastic caps anything else up front I might want to do for the IFS on 35's?

1997 Hilux 4Runner

I own a 1997 4Runner. Most often the brakes work very fine but some times when I press on the brake pedal it behaves as if it is pushing back against my foot.
I had the brakes system checked, the back Brake shoes were replaced together with the front disc. My mechanic told me there is nothing wrong with the ABS system, yet I keep having this reaction once in a while. Is this a normal reaction?

Yes. If they rub get new rims or wheel spacers.

You will lose power without regearing to 4.88 ratio though. I had 33's on stock gears in my differentials and it was sluggish. I have 35's now and geared to 5.29's at the same time and I have more go power than I had before.

What type of tires

I have a 97 4runner i just bought, and i know i can run a 31 inch tire on my stock suspension. i just dont know what kind i want. i wana be able to run some sort of all terain, with super agresive features. and i want good life out of them, and i dont have a lot to spend. hoping for like, 140 a tire...? i love those bfg's but they are pricey. and i have not a single clue what the best type of tire to run is. any tips?

PS: I need shocks. can i get old man emu and run just shocks, with no new coils until i can afford them? thanks

Ok.. Searched for hours and can't find a matching thread to my specs. I know what my setup will be, I just need to know the backspacing I will need. Heres my specs. I'll try to make it so you don't need to ask any questions about my rig.

1994 4x4 Pickup, 22re. It has a 4" All Pro lift front and rear from what I can tell.. Still IFS.
I'm getting 4.88 gears, MT/R w/ Kevlar 33x12.50 tires, and new 15x8 black crawler wheels. I just need to know what backspacing I'll need on the 15x8's before I order them.

Thank you very much.

is the rim size that is stated on the tire the only rim that will fit? For instance would a R16 fit on a 15" rim? Or is it just saying that 16" is best or will fit best? . .

You can't really mess with diameter. 15" tires for 15" wheels, 16" tires for 16" wheels. Sometimes you'll see 16.5" tires and some folks will try to mount them on 16" wheels since 16.5" wheels can be hard to find. They'll mount but they blow beads a lot. Wheel width is the measurement you can play with. Most tires have a range of width's they'll fit (ie: 6.5-8" or 8-10").

Wheel sizes and year interchangeable?

Does anyone know if a set of stock wheels from a 1999 4runner will fit a 1996 4runner? Thank you!

'86 LB, all stock, 35x12.5R15 Geolandar MT's. Nipped the corner off the bottom of the front fenders and beat the firewall some, needs a little more since it still rubs some with the tire stuffed and turned to the stops. Rear rubs yes, but I'm not trimming until I get some springs that aren't sacked out in the rear, even then the trim won't be much, may even see if I can get away with just rolling them. Rear is probably down 1.5-2" from stock height at the moment.

ok I can't get a responds back from Total Chaos so I am wondering what size tire can I run on an '86 4runner TC long arm kit, 2" body lift, glassworks Ivan 3" fenders, and a t100 rear axle. width and height? I was thinking 40x14.5-16 with a 3 3/8BS
