Newb Rig Set Up

Newb Rig Set Up
I no a lot of these questioned are answered everywhere and i have done a lot of research, trust me, i just want some opinions from people that i can talk to. I have an 89 5spd 22re extended cab. I recently bought a brush guard for starts with the armour. Im also buyin some 4.56 thirds, have 4.10's now. I hear 4.56's will work with 33's but are made for 31's. It's a dd and occasional off road, mainly mud and snow in winter (80%-20%). Could i run 33's? Also, i want to install a locker in the rear because i know it is a great improvement. What is the cheapest yet easiest to install locker for a 93 v6 rear diff? I don't want to have to reset ring and pinion. Thanks in advance for the help.

cheapest yet easiest to install? i would be more worried about quality and functions. you should probly decide what kind of locker you want (ratcheting, air, e-locker etc.)
the cheapest/easiest is a weld job

4.56s will work pretty decent with 33s. I've ran 34" Nittos with um and can't really complain, crusin was great and I could still pull a long hill in 4th. I'm currently running 31s with the 4.56s and really like the low end "umph", the R's are high crusin at 60-65, and if I have a bit of a running start I can work a hill in 5th.

ya where i drive it is flat to speak off. I don't do any crawling realing so i think the gears would be ok. cant wait to get my 4.56's. I think im going to go with a lock right and the rear one only. From what i hear that helps a lot.

ya it can be both fun and dangerous haha.
Im sure this question has been answered a million and one times but what is a metric equivalent tire for a 33" tire and 15 inch rim with tire width being anywhere beetween 10-12.5??

yeah man my truck was 4 banger 5 speed. and i have 4.10s i have 32s and its fine gearing wise.. its a trail only so i welded the rear and am gonna lockright the front...
its really good that you are researching before you spend money.. cause its better to spend once..
like i said i fit 32s on stock lift.. 33s you could do with a small body lift.
id get your 31 -33 inch tires either all terrain or mudders with the rear lock right..
some people dont like brush gaurds they like "tube bumpers with stingers" or 800 dollar arbs.. i say for 50s bucks you got a great deal and if you ever want to upgrade could get your money back....
good luck!

Yes i have learned the hard way and i know now that if it's worth doing you do it right. I want to do enough body lift to fabricate some rock guards that can be fastened to the frame and be used as a step or whatever. I bought the stuff to make the diff breathers at the hardware store today. I need to do something to the ifs to get enough flex out of it for some mild crawling, just want to do it safely and sas is not a choice for me realy.

keeping the ifs stock keeps it strong.. and it flexs fine.. i would just weld on some sliders and steps and protection..
my stock lift on 32 inch mudders locked rear can hold its own... i can get it anywhere i want to without causing body damage...

Thats what i was thinking. I want to prevent body dameage of course but i have a brush guard, a skid plate coming, i might fab up some sliders, make some diff guards, nerf bars, and that should be mediocore for armor i suppose. I already have the v6 4.56 3rds so im ready for 32's or 33's. I will look into mud terrains but want them to last on the road for a good bit before needing new ones.

yeah if you have the 3rds a lockright is a easy install and you can swap them out... once you get in to the front and rear end of your truck you feel like you can fix everything on it!!!
ifs is great for daily driving and offroad.. most people that sas dont do it cause they use the road offorad ALL THE TIME..they also dd and do it for "look" and big yota syndrome...
you on a good path.. some mud terrains like themfg mudders or goodyear mtrs are good on and offroad infact the new rubicons come on them stock.. a winch is also a good investment.. the brush gaurd is good but you might need to make or buy a proper bumper for the winch and IF you get hardcore into wheeling cause the brush gaurd wont stand up to ABUSE!!! also if you do want to offroad.. make sure you have a good tow strap.. NOT A CHEAPONE and always bring another truck!
