Looking For Engine Rebuilder in San Diego
Hi 4x4climber,
Do you still have the information for local rebuilder you mentioned? What's the shop's name? Would appreciate the lead.
TIA and regards,

I came across these folks the other day. Their prices look really fair, especially considering the price LC Engineering charges for equivalent. (I'm convinced that Raptor Engines have to cut corners somewhere on rebuild quality/reliability for their 135hp/173 ft lbs torque 22re... IMO, there's no other way they can price them where they are.)
If I had the 22re, I'd probably consider going w/ them over a 3rzfe swap... And do the double chain (22r chain) option for $250 too.
http://www.22reperformance.com/22RE_...t_Engines.html
Here's their dynos. Based upon the rear wheel dyno of the stock first vehicle and the new 22res advertised dynos of 112 hp / 142 lb·ft torque -- the engine's actual HP/torque of their new engine (based upon 2nd vehicles rear wheel dynos) would be 135 HP and 159 lb ft torque. The modern 4cylinder 3rzfe at stock is advertised at 150 HP and 177 lb ft torque, while the truck's 6 cylinder 3vze is 150 hp and 180 lb ft torque. Obviously, a diesel swap is superior to all of these options from a power perspective, but not going down that rabbit hole. Point is, they look to do great work and this dyno is just from mechanical upgrades that support further fuel, air, exhaust mods, forced induction, etc for add'l HP/torque gains...

todate: 22RE Performance Seems The Best I can Find
Thanks for the input, guys.
I want this rebuild to be as reliable as possible, as this is my only adventure truck, and because I value simplicity and robustness I want to keep it for as long as possible. So I'm looking for rebuilders with excellent first-hand reviews from Yota brothers.
Yes, todate:
So I'm giving myself up to end of this week to find one with impeccable record and quicker lead-time than 22RE Performance. If nothing comes up I'm willing to wait 'til Christmas for my new engine. I hope Jerry/Jim can gift wrap the package.
Best regards,
RAD
Latest Update: Found a local shop with good review and first-hand experience report from office so I went with it.

- LC Engineering's is good but too expensive for what I need
- I have not found a local rebuilder with solid feedback
- Many others that were mentioned, including United Engines out of Compton, CA have had a few negative reviews.
- The only one without any negative feedback AND with reasonable prices is 22RE Performance. Probably explains why lead-time is 12-12 weeks! OMG! LOL!
