Muffler part help

I recently ordered a new muffler from these thieves also known as "parts geek." (By the way don't do business with these human scum.) they sent me the wrong one for my 89 pickup. They admit it is their fault but want me to pay $100 return shipping for a refund on a $60 part. Needless to say I'm not doing that and am out the $80 with shipping.

So I'm stuck with a muffler that doesn't fit my truck and these human detritus won't even tell me what it really goes to so I don't know if I can sell it. I mean who wants to buy a muffler that all I can say about it is that it doesn't fit an 89 toyota pickup. Any ideas as to what to do with this thing? Thanks.

Its a 25 year old truck. Go to an exhaust shop, buy a muffler and have it welded in... would've been a helluva lot cheaper than whatever you just paid for a "direct fit" one.

Yeah. I just want a bolt on replacement don't want to start welding stuff under there. I will get a new bolt on from my local oreilly where they know what customer service is. I'm looking for ideas with what to do with this unknown muffler. All I know is it doesn't fit an 89 toyota.

^^ x2. I don't know why people make a big deal about mufflers. They don't care what vehicle there on.

Why doesn't it fit? Did you match the inlet and exit sizes correctly?

welding stuff? its simply just cutting the muffler off and putting a new one in. if you had just gone this route it would've been done right, and maybe added a little rumble.

I ordered it sized for my year make and model. I don't think you understand, I want to keep it relatively stock. I like the bolt on design that toyotas come with. I'm also pissed as hell at those people for stealing my money.

I was asking for advice about what to do with this thing they sent, not second guessing the way I do things or arm chair quarterbacking something I didn't ask about...

Yea like MaK92 said just go to a muffler shop and get a quiet muffler. Easy fix being way over thought.

Hey bruin go to Amazon and look. I got cat back exhaust for my truck which included the flange and muffler and tail pipe I just unbolted mine and put the new one on. I think it was like 60-70. Which is fairly reasonable just helping you out since you want a bolt on.

And with that muffler put it on Craigslist or eBay.

Thanks. I'm not too worried about finding the muffler from a good place. I just wish I could list what I've got on Craigslist or ebay. My problem is I don't know what it goes to in order to sell it, and the people who ripped me off are of course no help. Thanks for at least some constructive help though.

Is their and numbers or manufacturer name on case. if not just measure length of box total length box and pipe. inlet outlet dia put these in your advert someone will buy it for making a custom system which is becoming more popular.

Red face

just measure the thing !!!

All the dimensions post that up.

They screwed up and want you to pay the return shipping

It is a done deal now that is why I never buy size critical parts on line they can be expensive to return.

I have learned with exhaust parts buy from one manufacture !!

Although the system was made for my vehicle there was a interesting size difference when I tried to blend the two systems .

I can only guess your building a show truck.

Thanks for the good info. I never thought about just trying to sell it based on dimensions. It seems simple enough, but I'm only seeing red because I am still so pissed off at these people. That's just what I needed to bounce some ideas and hear a well reasoned response, since I may not be capable of that while this pissed. thanks Wyoming9 and Chefdave!
