Lockers

ok my frind gave me a diffirential case that came out of a 94 toyota pickup it has 4:88 gear ratio with a lock right locker in it. Can i use that locker on my 84 toyota pickup?? my 84 has stock 4:10s

I don't know much about 1st gen pickups, but the 94 22re pickups had stock 4:10s also so I don't see why not.

as long as its a 8in diff you can use it, problem is you would have mismatched
gears (like i do ...) and with a 4.88 in the rear and 4.10 in the front you wouldnt
be able to us 4wd until you had matching 4.88's front and rear together.

oh im sorry guys the locker came out of the front diff and the truck had IFS suspension i got off of it.

well youre s o l because the 7.5 diff gears & locker are a no go
in your truck cause both your axles a 8 in so i dont think you can
use any of it... sorry bud

Correct. None of it is useful to you. However, you should be able to sell it for decent $$. That is a reasonably desireable setup. Some will turn their nose up at a lockright in the front but there will also be plenty of folks that will take it off your hands. This also assumes you don't feel obligated to give it back to your friend if you aren't going to use it personally.

Unless of course your friend has a solid axle up front that he swapped in himself and it is an 8 inch front third, which you could use...

darn! well thought id ask first before i tear my front end apart! lol it takes a bit to get to those birfields! my friend said i can just keep the locker i have a 94 toyota pickup it would fit in! but i dont use my 94 for wheelin...its all stock! lol

make sure both front and rear end gears are the same! the third member should be inerchangeable
