So I bought a pair of LC engineering lifted springs from a guy here on YT, said they were 3" lift and would fit my 98 taco and that he had them on a 01, well I've had um for bout a year and just got around to installing them, so after working all morning and up till now, and after cutting the front bolts off the old ones i get around to putting the new springs on... well they are kinda short (see pics) they measure 48" eye to eye, the old stock Toyotas are 53 1/2" eye to eye but are prolly sagging a little) so is there anyway to make these work? are most lifted springs shorter? don't really wanna shell out $400 for new springs but also don't wanna reinstall the old ones after all this work to get them off... thoughts? thanks -Jeff

 

How are you measuring the eye-eye distance? Straight point to point or along the arc of the spring. The best way to compare is along the arc of the spring.

 

Thats weird. Maybe they are from a 95.5-97. Which BTW have shorter springs then the 98-04 Tacomas.

 

along the arc the new ones are 51 (22 to the pin) and the old ones are 55 (24 to the pin) so theres no way i can use them right? they would shift the axel 2" forward right?

 

I thought of that and thats what i'm guessing, however he told me he had them on an 01...

along the arc they are 51" (22" from the front eye to the pin) and 48" straight from eye to eye. They are for sale and i'm asking $200 which is what I paid for them. let me know if you want me to bring them to Rausch

 

Maybe on my next trip out that way...don't have an extra 2 bills about right now, I'll have to measure see if they fit. If you have them when I need them I'll get a hold of ya, not a bad price at all. Don't hold them for me though if you find a buyer.

No, I won't just take them...Can't do that. We just have a bunch going on right now. Rausch next weekend and then Myrtle beach in July and house mods building up. Redecking the deck, installing window, you know all that fun stuff that prohibits the purchases of items wanted not so much needed.

ok so Toyota doesn't have the bushings or bolt that I cut up (thinking I wouldn't need) any closer than Canada... So I decided to go with the greaseable Daystar bolt and bushing, however I'm not going to have the replacement parts before Rausch Creek this coming sat. So I got creative with some extra bushings I had laying around, cut um to fit and put um in backwards so they were tight, as for the bolt the best I could find was a metric grade 8.8 which I believe is similar to a grade 5, Do you think this will be good enough for a week till I get the new parts? I really don't wanna let this get in the way of my trip to RC. Any thoughts?

 

Bring some extra just in case...Patch it up and off we go.
