IFS Calipers on SFA

Will IFS calipers work on a solid front axle?

there are a couple of ways to accomplish this.... do you want to keep it the same width or go with the IFS width?

either way if you use IFS calipers i believe your gona need differant rotors......i know if you want to do the wider swap you use 80s LC discs and swap the calipers from the rear to the front of the mounting surface.... i gota lot of info at home on this (mostly from pirate or links off of there)....i will get bak to yea

YES, you can. You have to use 86-95 vented rotors tho.

This is a common mod on SFA's. Replacing the solid rotors w/ vented and bigger better IFS calipers (be it 4cyl or 6cyl). Either will work.

So the rotors that come with the Trail gear SAS kit will not work?

Yes, those will work. They are the same as FJ60/62 rotors.

We are doing this on a "classic front lift". 85 solid axle, FJ rotors, 95 4-runner calipers (v6)

My landcruiser needed slight grinding on those larger calipers to clear the wheels. I'm sure the 85 will, too. But the bigger pistons will stop bigger tires better.

I like the "sky" SFA widening kit

http://www.sky-manufacturing.com/

It uses your IFS wheel hubs (the part the brake rotor bolts to), FJ rotors, and IFS calipers. The resulting width is 58" and your current wheels will bolt right on (SFA axles use 3.75 MAXIMUM backspace, stock IFS wheels are about 4.5")
