Idler bearing removal ??
Finally got bolt out of crankshaft and in process of removing idler bearing. Is it easier to remove cam sprockets and take off back plate to get to the bolts?? The metal vacuum tubes run over the top of those bolts. I can't see another way to get at 'em. 89 runner 3.0 manual.... Thanks!!

Take off that upper plate, and you can remove that upper idler. Its a major PITA and would be best to use some wobbly sockets (not the U-joint extensions, but the wobbly sockets)
I did that on my 1990 many years ago without removing the upper intake.

Thanks for the reply. They sure didn't leave any room to get those bolts out. I can't even fit a wrench in to get at one of the bolts. Tight, tight, tight!! That's why I was thinking of taking off the back plate.
