Its hard to crank, or just to start? Does it crank fine is my question I guess

You say it could be timing, have you checked it with a timing light? That would be a good starting point to eliminate that as an issue.

Otherwise,
Cold start sensor could be clogged with grime or faulty
Cold start timer switch could be faulty (tells the cold start sensor to turn on)
Temp Switch No. 2 could be faulty also, contributing to this issue
Fuel injectors could be leaking, possibly check fuel pressure to fuel rail

There are many threads on here regarding cold start issues, so if its not your timing, I would look into those possibilities.

The timing on these engines is very important to their performance. Do you have a timing light? If not get one somewhere? You can't just keep playing with the distributor and set it. You have to jump 2 terminals in the Diagnostic plug to get "base timing" in order to set it correctly... Get a Service manual... like... a haynes or clitons or something. IT will show you step by step.

sorry teuf what im saying is we set twisted the cap by hand when we had the old plug wires and cap and button on there and it cranked better. then we put new wires, cap, and button on after that and then it ran excellent so we kept cranking and cutting it off and restarting and still did great then when i got home i had same problem again
