exhaust manifold

exhaust manifold

i have a 87 turbo 22rte and need to relpace the exhaust manifold. will the exhaust manifold need to be a certain kind or can it fit a 22r,re... as well?

it uses a different manifold then a regular 22r/re.

Original exhaust mans. for turbos can be hard to find. L C Engineering sells aftermarket ones, there not cheap. You can have yours professionally repaired. Whats wrong with yours ?

thanks for the info. yeah i got a crack in the manifold and trying to see what it is i can do. can i patch it or just replace it?

Typically its not a good idea to weld on cast manifolds. For the price, you are better off just getting the LC engineering manifold or header, so it will not crack.

Yes, it is tough to weld cast iron manifolds. Over time, the heat of operation drives carbon from the exhaust into the metal. If you can find a shop that specializes in that sort of work, two options are to braze the crack or weld it with special nickel rich welding rod. Usually the manifold needs to be pre-heated prior to the repair then allowed to cool slowly to prevent cracks around the repair site.
