Electrical help?

hey guys...my dome light was a piece of crap so i figured id replace it...I got it all wired and it turns on but once the metal screws touch the body where im screwing them to my fuse pops...could it be its not getting enough power? maybe too much? a short somewhere? not grounded?...there is no wire/wires exposed...I dont see how there could be any melted or messed up wires...I searched and couldnt really find anyone with the same problems either..so any help would be graetly appreciated... 88 pickup 22re dlx

Thanks

sounds like you got the positive and negative leads mixed up. switch them around and see if your still getting the fuse popping.

you might have gotten another bad one, did you get a new new one or a salvage, because ive seen those domelights do some funky things even though i didnt see any problems. i think it has to do with the switch.... probably no help but my first guess is look for a short to ground in the unit itself
