I don't know if this is a newbie question or not but I'm posting here for now anyway. I have a 84 4Runner with a 5speed that I'm parting out. A guy with a 86 pickup needs a tranny but I'm not sure if it's the same transmission or if it will interchange. Any help? Thanx Incedentally, I have a straight front axle in very good condition for sale

 

i dont think that it would work with the 86 because your84 has a g-series tranny and the 86 has a w56one

 

Could be made to work, the tranny/t-case you have is set up for a forward shifter location. The '86 would be a top shifter, but you could either block off the forward shift hole in the '84 tranny or swap in the '84 t-case as well.

 

Thanx for the info. It obviously won't work for what the guy wants in his 86 but Id rather sell the tranny and case together anyway. Thanx for your help
