crossover steering questions?
ok so i do not have a yota just yet but i will as soon as i sell my cherokee and my superswampers. but i would like to get the skyjacker 7 inch kit and it says that you need the adjustable draglink. so here is the question im going to get lift gears tires and crossover all at the same time. the crossover from trailgear says that it comes with both steering arms and pitman arm and maybe another thing but can someone explain to me and show me a picture of the draglink. is the draglink considered a steering arm?
thanks in advance yall

A typical dropped drag link (S-shaped part - gold color):
With crossover steering, all those parts go in the junk pile:

The drag link "crosses over" from the steering box to the passenger side steering arm, thus the name "crossover steering".

itll be 35s or 36s untill i build the axles if i were to even go that route.
and thank you for the pictures but just to clarify when i buy the lift kit i do not need to pony up the extra dough for the draglink if i buy trail gears cross over kit?
and do you need the ifs steering box for the crossover steering?
sorry for all the questions i do body work not mechanical and i really want to understand building 4x4s. its my biggest intrest

You will also need the IFS box mounting kit, mount it was far forward as your can.
If you check my mini FAQ link in my sig you will find Wabbit's pic of how it should be done and also an example of how not to do it.
Also recommend the steering stablizer kit T-G has for high ster

Just to give you an idea of how high your truck will be, here is a picture of my 86 4Runner with a 5'' lift and 37'' tires. If you go with cross over steering you will need to upgrade to a second gen steering box, it is way better than the stock push pull steering.

hey my yota if you are somewhere around 5 foot ten could you post a picter up of you next to your truck so i can see how high your truck sits. depending on the heighth of the 5inch lift i might just go with that instead of a 7.

If my 4runner is sitting on 35s with enough clearance for 37s and the lift is 4", I see no reason to run larger than a 5". However, I have to warn you that it's going to be a really harsh ride and you'll wish you hadn't gone with the skyjacker kit!
What you really need are longer leafs to provide more flex and smooth out the bumps. Trust me on this. My 85 runner has a tuff country 4" lift that is soon to be thrown in the garbage in favor of some trail gear springs. First, it is way too harsh. Secondly, the bump steer is horrible and dangerous.
I know it's tempting to take the cheap way out, but it will cost you in the end.
